What is SAT (Scholastic ASSESSMENT TEST)?
SAT is a standardized exam that is widely used in university admissions in the United States. This exam, which is designed to evaluate whether high school students are ready for university and compare applications, is developed and managed by the College Board. SAT enables students to make a solid start to university life by measuring their academic competencies and measuring their critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
Basic components of Satin:
- Evidence-based reading and writing (EBRW):
- Reading test: It measures the skills of understanding, interpretation and analysis through literature, historical documents, social sciences and passages selected from natural sciences.
- Writing and language testing: Focus on grammar, vocabulary and editing skills; Students improve the language structure by correcting errors in texts.
- Mathematics:
- The exam is divided into sections that are allowed and not given to the use of calculators.
- Topics include algebra, problem solving, data analysis and advanced mathematics (eg trigonometry and geometry).
Scoring:
- SAT uses a score scale of 400 to 1600. This score is determined by the sum of the results obtained from the EBRW section (200-800) and the mathematics section (200-800).
